The Livingston Parish School Board has placed in effect a testing program which conforms to all requirements issued by the United States Department of Transportation and outlined in pertinent federal regulations. A copy of the entire plan is available to all employees to read by contacting the Transportation Department of the Livingston Parish School Board.
To accomplish this purpose, the Livingston Parish School Board does hereby declare that the possession, use, distribution or sale of illegal drugs on Livingston Parish School Board premises and all work locations by any employee and/or the reporting for work in a condition caused by off-duty use of drugs, alcohol, or controlled substances, which detrimentally affects his or her ability to perform work, shall be deemed in violation of this policy, and subjects such employee to disciplinary action.
CONSEQUENCES OF POSITIVE TEST RESULTS
A. APPLICANTS: Job applicants who are required to have a CDL (Commercial Drivers
License) will be denied employment with Livingston Parish School
Board, if their test results are positive on a pre-employment drug or
B. EMPLOYEES: If an employee who is required to have a CDL (Commercial Drivers
License) has test results that are positive on a random, post accident,
or reasonable cause drug or alcohol test, the employee will be
If the results of the driver's alcohol test indicates a blood alcohol concentration of 0.04 or greater, the driver shall be terminated.
If the results of the driver's alcohol test indicates a blood alcohol concentration of 0.02 or greater, but less than 0.04, the driver shall not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions until the start of the driver's next regularly scheduled duty period, but not less than 24 hours following the administration of the test.
